Supporting Moments of Calm with ‘Spread a Smile’ — Stocking 20 PICU Book Libraries

In July 2025, Expect Amazing partnered with the charity ‘Spread a Smile’ to bring the joy of reading to families during some of their most challenging moments. As part of our ongoing commitment to uplift those in need, we supplied carefully curated book collections for 20 book libraries across paediatric intensive care units (PICUs).

Working with hospitals—especially PICU wards—is deeply personal to our founder, whose own experiences have shown just how much comfort a book, a story, or a shared moment can bring in difficult times. These libraries offer more than just books; they create a sanctuary where children and families can pause, reconnect, and find a little light in the midst of hospital routines.

We are excited to continue building our relationship with the charity Spread a Smile and to support the incredible work they do.

Together with the Buddy Bag Foundation, we’re making sure every child has not just what they need — but a story to hold onto

At Expect Amazing, we believe every child deserves comfort, hope, and the joy of a good story — especially in difficult times. That’s why we’re proud to support the Buddy Bag Foundation, a charity that provides essential items to children entering emergency care. Each Buddy Bag contains toiletries, pyjamas, a cuddly toy and a brand-new book.

We know the magic a book can bring: a chance to escape, to imagine, and to feel safe, even if only for a few pages. By ensuring there’s a book in every Buddy Bag, we hope to give children not just the essentials they need, but also a spark of comfort and inspiration for the journey ahead.

We truly appreciate the incredible work Karen Williams OBE and her team put into making this happen. Her dedication, passion, and tireless efforts are changing lives — and we’re honoured to play a small part in that mission.

Gift a Read with Let’s Talk Reading and Brisko — 2,432 Books for Ipswich Schools

In partnership with the charity ‘Let’s Talk Reading’ and ‘Brisko Metal Resources’ of Ipswich, our Gift a Read initiative reached a wonderful milestone in Q2 2025 — delivering 2,432 books to every child from Reception to Year 6 in seven Ipswich schools!

Let’s Talk Reading works to tackle low literacy levels in Ipswich, where many children face barriers to developing a lifelong love of reading. By placing high-quality books directly into the hands of children, we hope to inspire curiosity, imagination, and confidence, both inside and outside the classroom.

Our founder, Avni Vyas, joined John Heueller OBE and the Brisko team to personally deliver books to one of the schools, seeing first-hand the excitement on the children’s faces. We hope these books will be enjoyed over the summer holidays and treasured for years to come.

A huge thank you to Let’s Talk Reading and Briskos for making this possible, and to the incredible volunteers who helped us pack and deliver this enormous number of books. Your hard work turned a big idea into a bigger success!
